How to Spend Your Rebate Check

As you may have heard, the Bush Administration said each of us would get a rebate check to stimulate the economy. This is good news for many baby boomers who are trying to come up with creative ways to spend this windfall.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs,

if we purchase a computer it will go to India,

if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala,

if we purchase a good car it will go to Japan,

if we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the United States.

If you're in Durham, NC on Saturday, May 10, stop by my house because I'm having a YARD SALE.

You made a great point and did it with great humor!

It's funny but it's also sad because everything you said is true.

Whatcha got in good used books at your yard sale????

Thanks for that reminder, Bev. It is hard to keep our money here as we have moved so much of our manufacturing and services offshore. I'm headed to the nearest yard sale!
